UnixTimestamp didn't start with a grand vision or a gap in the market we had been studying for months. It started because we had base code we wanted to test and needed something real to build with it. We looked at what was genuinely annoying in day-to-day developer life and landed on Unix timestamps - something every developer encounters, usually at the worst moment, when they just need a quick answer and instead end up piecing together a solution from Stack Overflow threads and half-broken tools. No dramatic origin, just an honest one.

We built a clean converter and decided to give it away for free, because the problem it solved was small enough that charging for it never felt right. As we used it ourselves, one thing kept coming up: Discord timestamp formatting. Discord has its own syntax for displaying times dynamically inside messages, and there was genuinely no dedicated place to get that format quickly and correctly. So we added it - not as a feature announcement, but as a quiet fix to something that was clearly missing from every existing tool we could find. The product grew by solving the next specific problem, not by following a roadmap.

Today UnixTimestamp is exactly what it set out to be: a free, focused tool that does one category of thing well and gets out of your way. We are not trying to turn it into a platform or wrap it in unnecessary features. The mission is simple - keep it fast, keep it accurate, and keep it available to anyone who needs it without friction. Useful software doesn't have to be complicated, and this project is our reminder of that.
